Chuck Idol for Port Washington Water Commissioner

 


I will use this page during my campaign for the position of Port Washington Water Commissioner. Drinking water is a critical resource that everyone needs. I will take this position with the greatest importance and care. I feel I have the skills necessary based on my many years in corporate technology, operations management, private practice technology consulting,  and most recently, science water testing.   I am well versed with the importance of fighting environmental contaminants that could pollute our drinking water.  One example of note started in 2012. If you remember we saw 80 foot, very smelly, oil  leaching utility poles go up in our beautiful town.  I fought to have PCP PentaChloroPhenol and PCP Utility Poles banned. I worked closely with the Town of North Hempstead to protect the citizens against this chemical. In 2021 PCP was phased out by the EPA as the potential risk to drinking water was finally acknowledged. Recently I helped to create the first Port Washington Citizen Science Water Testing program.
